Ms. Tina is nothing short of amazing. ReaLLY.
My 5-year-old, high-functioning, autistic son has been seeing her for the last 2+ years, and has made great strides in his speech (& early-on with feeding as well). He went from originally being seen twice per week for speech & feeding therapies to now only needing to be seen once per week for speech only.
Additionally, Ms. Tina has recently begun seeing my 2-year-old for what we expect may be short term speech therapy.
As another reviewer mentioned, it is clearly evident Ms. Tina is extremely invested in the success of her clients, but she is also sure to make each session a pleasurable experience for our children.
Having had a child diagnosed as "high risk" for autism at the age of 18 months, believe me when I tell you that we have been "around the block" & back again with various therapy options, therapists, etc. We have had state contracted providers, public school providers, providers from Phoenix Children's Hospital even.
While trying to find our way through this maze of options, everyone seemed to be stressing "EARLY INTERVENTION! EARLY INTERVENTION!!!!" It's your best shot! Your best chance for your son to get better ... Your best chance that one day he may participate in a mainstream classroom.
Well, that's a GReaT DeaL of pressure to be put on a parent. Choose wisely Mom & Dad. Getting a qualified therapist on board that connects with one's child & can help him to thrive is so important! Would we make a favorable choice? It's an emotional decision.
I have to say, of all of the therapists we have dealt with over the years - speech, feeding , ABA, ECM, OT, PT, etc (but in especially among the different speech & feeding therapists we have solicited help from) Ms. Tina has made the greatest difference for our son. I remember the day, in her office, my son first bit into a pear. I cried. :")
Tina also writes excellent evaluations/progress reports. She cares so very much about your child as an individual, and what his/her needs are... What can be encouraged to further move toward success.
Do not give up hope. When we found Tina I almost had. I thought we had tried everything there was to try, been everywhere there was to go, seen everyone there was to see. I am so pleased I was wrong.
"Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright ..." you just haven't met Ms. Tina yet. ;-) You will see a major difference, and improvement may come faster than your think. My two-year-old is doing so well already that I think Tina may have even surprised herself. Ha!
Valley-wide, parents who trust Ms. Tina with their children's speech & feeding needs have been blessed beyond measure. I know - because I am among them. If you are fortunate enough to fill one of the rare open spots that pop up in her schedule, it is truly your lucky day.
Thank you Tina for making a difference in the lives of our boys.
Christina is an amazing teacher. She has a very creative technique to teaching each lessons. My daughter would really look forward to her weekly session. Im thankful for this overall experience because finishing my daughter has improved drastically in areas which challenged before.
After searching for several months and utilizing other ST services, we found Eat, Talk and Play. We met Christina and knew instantly she was the right ST for our beautiful non-verbal autistic son. Christina has displayed integrity, professionalism and a great wealth of knowledge about autism and communication devices. She has demonstrated skillful ways to approach our super energetic son with a firm, but gentle approach. My husband and I have already seen progress with his communication and sensory issues, since we started attending therapy sessions with Christina.
My boys love Christina! One of my boys has sensory issues affecting his eating. Christina had both boys for 12 weeks of playtime, I mean feeding therapy. They loved going there. We called all over town and no one had openings. Luckily, Christina was able to get us right in. So glad we found her.
Christina is the fourth speech therapist for my son. My son has autism and none of those speech therapist were able to work 1:1 with my son due to him being hyperactive.Speech therapy sessions used to be training for me(mom) and my son would be running somewhere in some room. Finally, I was so lucky to have found Christina. My son really cooperates with her and thinks its fun to work with Christina. We never miss any session and so do Christina. She is very knowledgeable. She listens to your concerns and suggestions which many won't do. Her approach is so motivating that I was able to practice the goals with my son at home.I would recommend her to any family needing speech therapy and would continue to work with her.
Christina did a wonderful and professional job evaluating my 1 year old son who has unilateral microtia. My wife and I have been concerned about his language development given that he does not have full use of audible capabilities. Christina was able to evaluate his behavior, his speech, and asked us many questions with regard to his speech and hand signals. After our meeting with Christina, she formalized my son's evaluation in writing and gave us a copy. The environment at Eat Talk and Play was also very child friendly. With 3 children, all under the age of 7, present, it was nice that the kids had a safe place to expend their energy. Great job Christina and thank you for doing a detailed assessment of our son. Best, Tim
Ms. Tina is just the very best. I spent a week interviewing speech therapists for my 3 year old son. I instantly connected with her during our phone interview and our in office evaluation was no different. Her office is just the perfect location for us in old town and I love how invested she is in my sons health and language growth. He absolutely adores her and can't wait to see her each week. I highly recommend her services.
Christina is a very gifted speech pathologist with the ability to get the children to be incredibly cooperative quickly which results in tangible progress. Her office is very warm and inviting, making the kids feel vey comfortable. I highly recommend her for evaluations and follow up therapy.
Christina is a highly trained speech-language pathologist who has significant knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of communication disorders. I just wanted to comment on the services provided here at this Clinic for my Nephews Autism Therapy. Christina's approach is so Instrumental in his progress. I saw Nicholas over the Holiday's and was so Impressed by his ability to engage with me and I just had to post a Review for the Eat, Talk, and Play Therapy LLC. Christina has been working with our 8 year old son, "J", for nearly 3 years and we couldn't be happier. J has made amazing progress and he thinks their sessions are fun! J has autism and lots of energy, but Christina's consistent, disciplined, and organized approach keeps him focused and keeps behaviors in check. When we started seeing Christina, J was mostly using short phrases and could be difficult to understand. Now he's using full sentences, his speech is much clearer, and it's pretty much non-stop! We still have a long way to go, but fortunately, Christina is going with us.
